This coin was minted in 1793. it weighs 6.74 grams. Its composition is 100% copper. Its diameter is 22 millimeters. 35,334 were made at the Philidelphia mint. In 1794 however the die was changed so that the bust faces right. This coin was inspired by the Libertas medal.

In 1794 the die was changed from the 1793 half cent so that the bust faces right. But the standards are the same as the 1793 half cent, except the diameter was changed to 23.5 millimeters. The pole on coins that were minted on coins that bare the date 1797 were most likeley minted in 1799.

Draped Bust (1800-1808)

In 1800, the design on the half cent was changed to the draped bust design. The design was made by Robert Scot. These coins were minted from 1800 to 1808 at the Philidelphia mint. The standards were the same as the previous design.

Classic Head (1809-1836)

This coin was minted much longer than any previous issues. Its was designed was John Reich, second engraver under the chief engraver who at the time was Robert Scot, he designed the previous design. No coins were minted from 1811 to 1825. The standards were the same as the previous cent.

Braided Hair (1840-1857)

The Braided Hair design was the last design before making of the half cent was discontinued. It was designed by Christian Gobrecht. Once again the diameter was changed to 23 millimeters. But other than the diameter the standards remained the same.
